Motorola Razr hands on: The revived RAZR is a fashion-forward foldable

  • Motorola has resurrected its beloved Razr phone, a staple of mid-2000s cool, as a foldable device. The new Razr distinguishes itself from the Galaxy fold and Huawei's Mate X by folding vertically instead of horizontally. Unfolded, it looks like a regular smartphone, albeit one with a chunky "chin", but folded in half it's practically pint-sized, with a small front display to see your notifications, control media, or take a selfie. There's still a lot of questions when it comes to durability and foldables, but the new Razr feels extremely well constructed, and folds in half with no visible gap. It does have a few downsides, including a mid-range processor, single camera, and questionable battery capacity, but this is the first foldable we could see ourselves using as a daily device.

It should be expensive because not everyone deserves to end a phone call like a boss, only rich, petty bitches can.

This is first phone to interest me in a long time. It looks like they are off to a good start. Before 2012 I only ever used Motorola so this looks very appealing. I could only hope you can still do the one-handed snap open and closed just by thrusting it one way or another without moving your fingers/thumb at all.
Phones are so lame these days. All the same full screen brick. Doesn't interest me. Hence I've only used Blackberry since 2012. I demand a keyboard but I also like physical motion. The PRIV was intriguing but had shitty build quality and was a bit too big and sharp. The KEY series made up for it though; phenomenal phones.
Which brings me to.....why is everybody so lame these days? People are complaining about the price of this thing yet when Apple says they are releasing $1000+ phones that also have no SD slot, need all kind of adapters, plus the added feature of iShatter if you look at it the wrong, everyone just automatically hails it the second coming of Jebus on sliced bread. The tiny details about specs....do they REALLY make any noticeable difference in daily use?
I'm tired of people automatically looking down on phones like this Razr that are actually innovative and different then all the mainstream expensive fragile crap.
As for that BB KEY series I mentioned....yeah I've dropped my KEYone on hardwood, concrete, and jagged asphalt dozens of times without any protection at all and it doesn't shatter or skip a beat. Battery lasts up to 3 days with moderate use. All these 'high-end' phones look shiny in their display cases but they are butt fucking impractical in the real world.

We wirk with this kind of Screens for one year....they are horror After a few month they get a Fold in the middle which made the Display unsharp and blurry. And After a year they start cracking at the fold.

I am still using my Razr original! Price is way to high! When it drops to around $200, I will take another look at buying it! $1,500 more then top of line iPhone Pro! What is Motorola thinking here?

Any folding phone adds a lot of complexity and cost where there need be none, a phone with the ear speaker on the back so your cheek print does not get on the screen is simple but no phone maker does it

Does it have an old-school headphone jack? I don’t want Bluetooth wireless device on my head. Also, what’s the Operating System? Bug filled Android virus ready? Price too high; never mind. I just had a new battery put in my iPhone 6+...guess it stays?

I love this idea. To me, a phone should be compact, i dun care for my phone to look like a mini tablet. Hope Motorola will continue improving on this and the technology gets cheaper.

I'm a power user, as in, I use my phone a lot for emails, online, photos, etc. I hate iPhone's simplicity, so I usually stick with Samsung when it comes to high end phones. However, all of these gimmicky features they are rushing out are useless to me, but they inflate the price regardless, so I still have my Galaxy S8. Foldable screen has been a turn off for me since I worry too much about screen life and they are too big.

The Moto RAZR looks more like something I would want; modern, discreet, useful and it's using a "gimmick" in the right way. I will keep an eye out for this.
