The print at 9:11 has really great texture to it - is that as a result of the transfer or in part because of all the dried paint already on the gel plate? Either way, it look great!

@SouthernGalsDesigns Thanks! How did you get it that way? Just leaving it with paint residue on?
On a separate note, are there any types of acrylic paint you'd particularly recommend? I've never used acrylics before, so I'm not sure what different varieties there are.

I think it’s the dried gel plate crustiness LoL!!

Would this process work with inkjet images?

I haven’t personally tried it so I say experiment and see what happens.

My nail salon saves magazines for me. I have a stack to cut up. So far I have not had good success with image transfer, but I don't have liquid acrylics. I'll go get a few cheaper bottles and try again.

Pretty cool. One question. You say it let the paint dry on your gelli paint, but how long should it take? 1 minute? 10 minutes? I hear it in videos all the time. Should it be slightly tacky? Or bone dry? Thanks for any assistance!

It depends on the humidity where you live. It’s about 5 mins for me and Tacky is ok

it would have been helpful to see the image transfer result after it was pulled instead of putting them off to the side out of camera range.

You might try using a paint brush and using different colors on the geli image (instead of just rolling white) before printing.

Could be their ink. Printers use different types of inks, some more permanent than others. Telling us the mags and paints that work is really helpful.

I have tried this, didn’t work. Tried again, still didn’t work! I swear, I have tried over 20 times and it never worked for me. I tied lots of different paints & types of paper. I’ve watched many videos on this process and I get nothing! But. I’m going to take a break, then try, try, again! Very nice video!

I’m trying this for the first time today. I made my own gelly plate. I’m not having much luck. I def cannot get images to transfer. Using stencils, I can get some okay layers for a nice background, but nothing like the video.
I’ve tried different paints and papers. My paint seems to be drying too quick. I’ve tried adding gel medium which helps a little.
My question: is there some kind of conditioning for my gelly plate besides water? Maybe it’s too sticky?

    • SouthernGalsDesigns
      SouthernGalsDesigns  Anos atrás

Have you tried adding an acrylic extender? I’m sorry but my extend of using a homemade gelli plate was only like a few days mine feel apart 🤣
